15 minutes of fireworks started the Las Vegas Centennial Celebration

2005 starts the celebration of Las Vegas' Centennial. On May 15, 2005, Las Vegas will celebrate its 100th Birthday! There were New Year's celebrations all over Las Vegas.

The Fashion Show Mall was host to a stunning fashion show with countdowns for each time zone. Crystal Method, the techno Las Vegas band, played a special concert for all the guests.

Downtown at the Fremont Street Experience, tickets were only $35 and party goers got to hear bands like the Little River Band, along with a speech from our esteemed Mayor, Mayor Oscar Goodman, a long time lover of Las Vegas. Copius drinks were flowing the entire night.

The Strip was host to one of the most elaborate fireworks display in Las Vegas' history. Shooting off from the Excalibur all the way down to The Stratosphere Tower.

Another key element to this celebration was the Las Vegas Centennial float in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena. The last time Las Vegas had a float in the parade was 1954 when the Desert Inn was the tallest building on the Strip and flashy new hotels like the Sahara, Riviera, Stardust and Tropicana were being built to lure Californians across the desert to dine and gamble in style and luxury.

If the New Year's Eve celebration was any indication of the events to come, then the Las Vegas Centennial Celebration will be a party to remember.
